How are you different from other Assisted Living Communities?
Bright Side Manor offers affordable assisted living in a warm and homelike setting. Residents eligible for MLTSS are always welcome. We do not require a private pay period, also known as a spend down period. Our private rates are reasonable and based on the individual resident's income, resources, care needs and the accommodations selected.
What do you provide?
We provide assistance with personal care, wellness care and monitoring by a registered nurse, three healthy meals and snacks throughout the day, social activities, laundry and housekeeping services. Care plans and services are tailored to the specific needs and preferences of each resident. The facility is staffed 24 hours per day and a registered nurse is on call at all times.
What makes you different from a nursing home?
Residents at Bright Side Manor do not require ongoing skilled nursing care. Residents at Bright Side Manor are not bed or chair bound. While the building is ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible, we cannot accommodate residents in wheelchairs at this time.
What does it cost to live at Bright Side Manor?
Private rates are set based on each resident's income, resources, clinical needs and the specific room requested. They range from $2950 to $4500. If accepted, a new resident must pay a $500 application fee and $1500 community fee. Fees may be waived if a resident will be enrolling in the MLTSS program. Applicants must provide proof of income and resources at time of application. Bright Side Manor also accepts payment from NJ's MLTSS (Managed Long Term Services and Supports) Program.
How does someone qualify for MLTSS?
To qualify for MLTSS, a person must meet clinical and financial eligibility requirements. Clinical eligibility means that a person meets the qualifications for nursing home level of care, which means that s/he requires assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) such as bathing, toileting and mobility. Financial eligibility limits are set by the State of New Jersey's Department of Human Services each year. In 2019, the income limit is $2313 per month. Resources cannot exceed $2000. MLTSS applications are processed at County Board of Social Services. Clinical eligibility is determined by a Medicaid nurse from the Office of Community Choice Options.
How do I apply for admission?
Applicants and their family members are encouraged to visit Bright Side Manor and tour the community to ensure that it is the right fit. All applicants must be screened by Bright Side Manor's nurse or administrator before they can be considered for admission. All applicants must submit a completed application for admission and history and a physical completed by a physician or other qualified health care provider. The history and physical must include evidence that the applicant is free of communicable disease such as a two-step Mantoux test or chest X-Ray that rules our tuberculosis.
If accepted for admission to Bright Side Manor, is there a sign on contract?
All residents sign a Resident Agreement. This is a month-to-month agreement and can be cancelled at anytime by giving 30 days notice. Exceptions to the 30 day notice requirement are made when a resident's care needs exceed the level of care provided at Bright Side Manor or where emergency transfer is required.
